Blackstone Valley Development Corporation (BVDC) is a leading developer of housing for adults with disabilities, veterans, the elderly and others in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. BVDC was originally established to be the principle vehicle for real estate development for the Arc of Blackstone Valley (Arc). Its real estate portfolio contains  245 housing units completed and/or under development, plus 16 group homes and 10 HUD/Rhode Island Housing apartment buildings. Working with local non-profit groups as well as state and federal housing agencies, BVDC continues to acquire and develop housing projects throughout the area.

BVDC's team includes experts in accounting, finance, government relations, tax credits and real estate law. BVDC has the capability and expertise to direct all aspects of a housing development project from design and zoning approvals to financing and construction and finally, managing the completed project.

Construction Begins on Keats Gardens

In preparation for a new 20-unit senior housing development, Keats Gardens Inc., a subsidiary of The Arc of Blackstone Valley, has begun demolition of the Arc’s former headquarters at 115 Manton Street in Pawtucket. The $3.8 million project, Keats Gardens, is the second phase of the Arc’s Manton Street Initiative to convert the site of the Arc’s headquarters into apartments for seniors and the disabled. Phase One, Belmont Commons, is 10 units of housing for the developmentally disabled and physically challenged and was completed in 2013. The Arc vacated the current building at 115 Manton Street last year to make way for Phase Two, moving its headquarters to 500 Prospect Street in Pawtucket. A HUD Section 202 development, Keats Gardens features one two-bedroom and 19 one-bedroom homes. The units are designed so elderly residents can "age in place." The construction and operation of the project will meet HUD’s Energy Efficiency and Green Standards. Energy Star for New Homes guidelines will be used during construction. Keats Gardens is designed by architects Saccoccio & Associates, Inc. of Cranston and is being constructed by Stand Corporation of Warwick, RI. Click Here to view photos of the project.
