For more than 55 years, The Arc of Blackstone Valley has used housing and real estate to support its mission. The organization developed properties for its community-based programs, staff, and the individuals it served.
The Creation of BVDC
In 2006, The Arc’s senior management formed Blackstone Valley Development Corporation, or BVDC. BVDC was created to manage The Arc’s existing properties and partner with nonprofits, government agencies, and municipalities. Today, BVDC develops affordable mixed-use and mixed-income housing for adults with disabilities, veterans, older adults, and other members of the community.

Growth Through Real Estate
As The Arc grew, it acquired and developed additional residential properties to meet the changing needs of its programs. Over time, managing this expanding real estate portfolio became increasingly complex.
